ESG Academy opens its tenth anniversary edition in spring 2026

On March 20, 2026, the spring edition of the ESG Academy – launched the approved certification program for specialists in sustainable management, implemented by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“ in partnership with the Association of Sustainability Specialists Association (SSA). The training will take place from March 20 – to June 5, 2026 and will mark the tenth edition of the Academy.

The program is aimed at building in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the field of ESG management, identification and management of non-financial and ESG risks, sustainable finance and adaptation to climate change. The training is clearly practical and meets current European policies, regulatory requirements and the needs of business and the public sector.

A new highlight of the program in 2026 is the module „Management of climate and ESG risks“, which will be led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radostin Vazov –, an established expert in the field of insurance, financial and social risk management. The module builds on ESG management with a focus on risk assessment, prevention and strategic management in the transition to a sustainable economy.

The training program includes 10 modules (80 study hours) that cover key topics such as:

  • Social pillar of sustainability – 18 May 2026 – Zornitsa Rusinova
  • ESG accountability and reporting data requirements – 22 May 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova
  • Climate Adaptation and Resilience – 29 May 2026, Apostol Dyankov
  • Sustainable Finance – June 5, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marcelen Jovogan

The training is particularly suitable for representatives of business, the financial sector, state and local administration, regulatory authorities, consultants, NGOs, as well as for all professionals involved in the implementation of ESG policies and the requirements of the European Green Deal.

After successful completion of the training, participants receive a certificate, and upon completion of a qualification course of 6 modules, they can use 3 credits for the master’s programs „Responsible and sustainable management“ and „Accounting and sustainability“ at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of SU.

The new edition of the ESG Academy has been launched in autumn 2025

On October 17, the ninth edition of the ESG Academy – begins, a joint initiative of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“ and Sustainability Specialists Association (SSA). The first module dedicated to „ESG management“ will launch the program, which aims to develop expertise in sustainable and responsible management, identifying and harnessing non-financial risks and promoting sustainable investment through innovation in the social and low-carbon economy.

ESG Academy is the most established national certification program for professional development in the field of sustainable management. The trainings cover a wide range of topics, including ESG strategies, energy and climate policy, ESG accountability and audit, adaptation to climate change, human rights in a business environment and sustainable finance.

From October 13, the autumn fifth edition of the ESG Academy was launched in partnership with the Sustainability Specialists Association (SSA)

            On October 13, the ESG academy of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of SU „St. Kliment Ohridski“ with the Association of Sustainability Specialists Association (SSA). The beginning will be given with a module „ESG control“. The aim of the program is to form knowledge for sustainable and responsible management, identifying and managing non-financial risks and attracting sustainable investments by developing innovations in the field of social and low-carbon economy.

          The ESG Academy is the first national certification program for training specialists in sustainable management and covers topics related to the ESG approach in management, energy and climate policy, ESG accountability, adaptation and sustainability to climate change, sustainable finance, etc.

         The opening will be attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, as well as Assoc. Dr. Marina Stefanova, lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, head of the Master’s program „Responsible and sustainable management“ and leading the team implementing the ESG Academy.

        Assoc. Prof. Stefanova thanked everyone who will start their participation in the Academy and welcomed them for their decision to enrich their knowledge in the ESG field.

BAKSOS and Sofia University join forces to train experts in responsible and sustainable management

The promotion of the new master’s program “Responsible and Sustainable Management” and the opportunity to train more highly qualified specialists in the field of responsible and sustainable management is the basis of the new agreement signed in late June between Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski ”and the Bulgarian Association of CSR Specialists (BAKSOS).

The agreement also envisages updating the curricula in the disciplines taught in the bachelor’s and master’s programs of the Faculty of Economics, related to sustainable business development and corporate social responsibility, including the introduction of new courses and specialties, as well as presenting real cases from the practice of members. BAKSOS and their inclusion in the learning process.

“The establishment of the profession, raising public awareness and knowledge of its ethical norms and standards and the development of an information network between professionals from the country and abroad are among the main goals of BAKSOS. That is why we welcome the creation of the new master’s program and we expect to actively participate in its promotion, “said Dr. Marina Stefanova, Chairman of the Board of the professional organization.

“The new master’s program of the Faculty of Economics for responsible and sustainable management reaffirms the commitment of Sofia University in connection with the Sustainable Development Goals. With the signed agreement we strengthen our leadership position in this modern field of management and coordinate our priorities with the leading companies in this field, “said the Dean of the Faculty of Economics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev. It is also planned to hold joint specialized trainings, round tables, conferences and other events according to the needs of the practice, including the postgraduate qualification of Sofia University.

BAKSOS became a partner of the prestigious competition “The Greenest Companies in Bulgaria”, organized for ninth consecutive year by b2b Media. At the official ceremony,

which took place on June 7th, the most responsible businesses, municipalities, non-governmental organizations and individuals were awarded. Marina Stefanova, as Member of the Jury and Chairpersons of the Board of BAKSOS awarded a prize in “Green Start-up” category.
